ARTIST'S PROFILE Born in Carmarthenshire, Ainsley Hillard graduated in 2000 from Middlesex University, London with a Bachelor of Art (Hons) in Constructed Textiles. Awarded a Master of Art in Visual Arts from Curtin University, Australia in 2003, Ainsley became interested in the physical & metaphorical construction of cloth and its relation to body, memory & space. Ainsley’s art practice crosses & assimilates several disciplines including photography, weaving and print. Developing woven forms that integrate structure & image with installations that enable the audience to re-consider the materiality and engage with it in a physical sense - a bodily metaphor for its making. Ainsley is multi-award winning. In 2021 her work was bought by The National Trust for their permanent collection. She won First Prize at Wales Contemporary 2022 beating over 2,000 other entries from artists living across 42 countries. Ainsley continues to exhibit internationally. PROFFIL ARTIST Yn enedigol o Sir Gaerfyrddin, graddiodd Ainsley Hillard yn 2000 o Brifysgol Middlesex gyda Baglor mewn Celf (Anrh.) mewn Tecstilau Adeiledig. Wedi ennill gradd Meistr mewn Celf yn y Celfyddydau Gweledol o Brifysgol Curtin, Awstralia yn 2003, dechreuodd Ainsley ymddiddori yn adeiladwaith corfforol a throsiadol brethyn a'i berthynas â chorff, cof a gofod. Mae ymarfer celf Ainsley yn croesi ac yn cymathu sawl disgyblaeth gan gynnwys ffotograffiaeth, gwehyddu a phrint. Datblygu ffurfiau wedi’u gwehyddu sy’n integreiddio strwythur, delwedd a gosodiadau sy’n galluogi’r gynulleidfa i ailystyried perthnasedd y gwaith - ymgysylltiad sy’n drosiad corfforol ar gyfer ei wneud.
